The Wonder Touch of Craniosacral Therapy Part II

The Wonder Touch of Craniosacral Therapy Part II

Over the years treating patients with CranioSacral therapy has brought many interesting cases on how emotions can represent evident difficulties in people. The statistics show over 70% of conditions are really psychosomatic, meaning emotion representing throughout the body. It is common to see patients going through the process of CranioSacral treatments connect to their emotions, their past experiences, their memories, specific events like accidents or incidents as they tap in the stored memory in the body. During CranioSacral therapy it is a great opportunity to connect to ones inner self, others might have called the inner wisdom or the inner physician as Dr.Upledger the founder of Craniosacral therapy called it in his book The Inner Physician In You. You know when you get the gut feelings? or when something inside of you knows the answer and you say I knew it! Or when that inner voice verifys your intuition? This is what that is all about, allowing people to be able to connect to the awareness within and listen to that inner voice that has all the record and information and connects to the subconscious mind. In other words, what is our body trying to tell us through the many symptoms we feel? Is the body trying to communicate something important with how we feel that relates to 70% of psychosomatic conditions? It is like the body is trying to communicate something and somehow we are not understanding, but when it is understood we get to one of those ah-ha moments. When people get to understand deep inside what it is that is their symptoms relate to is almost... read more
The Wonder Touch of Craniosacral Therapy CST Part I

The Wonder Touch of Craniosacral Therapy CST Part I

There is magic in touch… In my last article, I had discussed the importance our emotions have on our lives and most importantly our health. There is a connection that Cranio-Sacral Therapy (CST) creates between our body and our emotions through what is called Somato-Emotional-Release; therefore our inner knowing and understanding of our emotions are represented through our bodies and therfore serves as our connection towards self healing. What is Craniosacral Therapy CST In order to discuss CST we need to refer to the Cranial Sacral System (CSS) which is related to the central nervous system. The CSS is compose by the membrane, the meninges, that encapsulates the brain and the spinal cord from the cranium all the way to the sacrum. This membrane has three layers; the central layer is important for the therapy because it carries the cerebro-spinal fluid within. The movement of this fluid creates what is known as the cranio-sacral rhythm and it is through this rhythm that CST is able to evaluate and treat the CSS. This rhythm moves at a rate of 10 to 12 cycles per minute. People who have been through trauma can benefit from the balancing of the subtle expansion and contraction of the rhythm originating from the centre of the body. CST uses a very light and gentle touch of about five grams of pressure to connect to the rhythm that can be palpated throughout the body. CST helps the body to initiate a new pathway towards self-healing; it stimulates normalization through its direct relationship with the central nervous system. Once, CST helps relax the central nervous system, numerous functions in... read more

Sin embargo,... read more
Whiplash The importance of Treatment

Whiplash The importance of Treatment

If you or someone you know has been involved in a motor vehicle accident, then very likely the topic of Whiplash is of your interest. Hands for Health Therapy Clinic have helped many patients over the last decade recover from all kinds of pains, injuries and of course Whiplash. What is whiplash? Whiplash is a relatively common injury that occurs to a person’s neck following a sudden acceleration-deceleration force, most commonly from motor vehicle accidents. The injury usually involves the muscles and ligaments of the neck. The most common type of car accident is the rear impact, and most typically, the occupant in the vehicle that gets “rear-ended” (hit from behind) is at the greatest risk of injury, including whiplash. Whiplash is also sustained in many other ways, including head banging, bungee jumping falls or during a fast or sudden movement which may be with or without impact creating one of the major injuries covered by insurance companies. Fortunately, whiplash is typically not a life threatening injury, but it can lead to a prolonged period of partial disability. Causes of Whiplash Whiplash is commonly caused by a motor vehicle accident in which the car the person is riding is struck from a vehicle from behind without notice. It is commonly thought the rear impact causes the head and neck to be forced into hyperextension as the seat pushes the person’s torso forward – and the unrestrained head and neck fall backwards. After a short delay the head and neck then recover and are thrown into a hyper flexed position. The most common symptoms related to whiplash include: Neck pain and stiffness,... read more
